Take Dat and Blazers 3, League champions for the Tobago Netball League Men and B divisions respectively remain on course to sweep their respective divisions after winning their knockout finals at the Shaw Park Netball Court on Saturday.

The semi-final of the Big Four was carded for last night, while the grand finale and presentation of awards will take place on Saturday at the Shaw Park Netball Court.

Take Dat ended up in a dogfight with Police which made a gallant effort to arrest the powerful Take Dat team but ran out of time as the winners held on for an exciting one-point victory at 35-34 that had the massive crowd screaming and on their feet.

In contrast, Blazers 3 bombed out Titans 2 at 31-6 and A division League champions Blazers 1 despite making a late run after falling behind by six goals midway in the final quarter also ran out of time and were defeated by Matrix 31-29 while Blazers 2 outplayed Police Bravo at 16-12 for the Inter-division title.

In the A division final, Blazers trailed from the opening whistle as their shoots national player, Abeni Taylor and Mauricia Nicholson were off and their national captain made the tough decision to put Taylor on the bench at the start of the third quarter, and though not a shooter take up shooting duties.

However, it did not make much difference and Taylor was returned to her position and did a much better job in the final quarter as they made their late run but fell short by two goals. Credit must go to Matrix who played a good game and their centre Krista Winchester was outstanding as she cut off a number of passes that set the tone for her team’s victory from early.

Dhalia Anthony, Matrix goal shoot had a good game scoring 22 from 36 attempts while Janelle Toby scored nine from 16 while Taylor had 18 from 31 attempts, Mauricia Nicholson 11 from 18 and Kemba Duncan zero from two attempts for the losers.
