Honore’s SL Benfica keeps pressure on leaders
T&T lone professional men’s volleyballer Marc-Anthony Honore and his team SL Benfica kept the pressure on leaders Sporting CP in the Portugal A-1 Division with a comfortable 25-14, 25-14, 25-22 win over VC Viana-Casa Peixoto on Saturday.
With the victory, reigning champions improved its record to 17-4 and 54 points on the 13-team table, the same as third place SC Espinho which has played a match more and has a 19-3 record.
Sporting CP sits at the top of the with a 20-1 record and 57 points, while AJF Bastardo is fourth with 46 points, and a 15-7 record.
Up next for Honore and his team-mates is a meeting with cellar-placed AAS Maamede which has nine points from a 3-17 record, on Saturday.
Yesterday, Honore and his club shifted their attention to the quarter-finals of the Confederation European Volleyball (CEV) Challenge Cup where it faced Italian League mid-table club, Ravena with the second-leg set for February 27.

Yesterday, both T&T women were back in action again with Ankara Numune up against Idmanocagi and Pursaklar Belediyesi versus TED Kolejliler.
