Sport Ministry gives $30,000 to youth programmes
Five non-profit organisations yesterday received $30,000 in funding from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Darryl Smith presented representatives of each organisation with the grant at the Ministry’s Head Office on Elizabeth Street in St Clair, Port-of-Spain.
Among the recipients at the cheque distribution ceremony were representatives from the Sixth Formers Association Services, the Caribbean Youth Development Network, the Progressive Youth Group, the Trinidad Youth Foundation and the Maracas/Las Cuevas Junior Leaders 4H Club.
In his brief remarks, Minister Smith indicated his intention to ensure that our nation’s youth reach their full potential and invited the representatives to become involved in the upcoming consultations on the National Youth Policy.
“These cheques represent the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to provide financial support and assist in creating an enabling environment which promotes and encourages youth participation in all aspects of sustainable development,” he said.
