Penal, P’ville meet in South clash

Thursday, October 12, 2017

Back from a week long break today, South Zone leader in the Girls Championship Division, Penal Secondary will try to hold off closest challenger Pleasantville, when the teams meet in a top of the table clash today to start round two in the Secondary Schoolgirls Football League.

Last Thursday, off the scoring of Jhaney Simon and help from Alexia Ali, Kayla Garcia and Shakeela Castle, Penal pummelled Point Fortin East, 8-2 to stay unbeaten after five matches to earn 15 points.

Simon sank three goals while Ali and Garcia netted a double and Castle hit the other in the lopsided affair. Pleasantville also scored a huge victory last week in whipping San Fernando East 15-1 and will certainly be looking to Curissa Joseph to bring her goal-scoring skills in this afternoon’s match-up.

Joseph notched six goals in that affair with her teammates Jasandra Joseph and Lorall Romain getting in on the action. Joseph (Jasandra) lit up the net with five and Romain put in a pair. Also down South, Fyzabad faces San Fernando East while Point Fortin East hosts St Joseph Convent.

Up in the North Zone, leader Tranquility will try to remain unbeaten when it plays St Francois Girls. In its previous match, Shania Lewis (6) and Felicia King (4) combined for 10 goals in leading “Tranquil” to a comfortable 11-1 win over Diego Martin Central. Diego will look to bounce back against St Joseph Convent while Bishop Anstey hosts Success Laventille.

Top East Zone team St Augustine will attempt to remain with a clean slate when it meets St George’s College while the only other undefeated team in the Girls Division, Signal Hill, will aim to stay in control of the Tobago Zone, when it travels to Speyside High.

All matches starts at 3.45 pm.
