Alexander leads T&T athletes to gold
Annie Alexander struck double gold at the SEC/Big Ten Challenge in Mississippi, USA on Friday, winning the women’s shot put with 15.91 metres and the discus with a throw of 51.77. On each occasion Taylor Smith (Wisconsin) was second. Emmanuel Mayers (Mississippi State) was also in winner’s row taking the men’s 400m hurdles in 50.68, breaking his one year old meet record of 52.82. Mayers returned to help Mississippi State captured the men’s 4X400m relay in 3:09:09. Alexander’s Tennessee team-mate Jamol James was fourth in the men’s 200m in 21.04 (+3.4) and was part of his school’s 4x100m team which finished second in 40.13
