A lawyer and a law clerk appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court yesterday on charges of perjury for allegedly making false statements on a deed of conveyance. Attorney Dirk Ramdin, 25, and law clerk, Stacy Seepaul, were not called upon to plea when they appeared before acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan for the October 5, 2011, offences. The matters were transferred from the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court. Ramdin’s attorney, Michael Rooplal, told the court he and Larry Lalla were being led by Senior Counsel Dana Seetahal in the matter.

Yesterday, he also held for attorney Chateram Sinanan who appears for Seepaul. It is alleged that at Penitence Street, San Fernando, on October 5, Ramdin falsely claimed he was a witness to the signing of a document between two parties related to property at Factory Road, Piarco. Seepaul was charged arising out of the same incident. The matter was adjourned to May 24.
