$80,000 bail for accused sex offender
A 56-year-old man from Laventille has been granted $80,000 bail after being charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
Samuel Franklin, of Joe Sam Hill, Laventille, appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed in the Port-of-Spain Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Franklin was accused of indecently assaulting the teen on a date unknown between May 1 and June 30 and of sexually touching her on November 27.
He was granted bail on the condition that he would not have direct or indirect communication with the victim or come within 500 meters of her.
Franklin was charged by PC Joel Frederick and WPC Elnora Wright of the Child Protection Unit.
Franklin is expected to reappear in court next Wednesday.
