Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley is confident that Sugar Aloes (Michael Osuna) remains a supporter of the People’s National Movement (PNM). Aloes has for many years publicly stated his strong allegiance to the PNM. However, he shocked many when he appeared on stage at the second anniversary celebrations of the People’s Partnership last Thursday and serenaded Prime Minister Kamla Persad- Bissessar.
Questioned by reporters on the occurrence, at the PNM’s Sports and Family Day in Manzanilla yesterday, Rowley said Aloes was simply doing his job as a performer. “The PNM has no control over Sugar Aloes or any other performer,” Rowley said. Further questioned whether the party felt slighted in any way, Rowley said no.
“He’s a private performer making a private living as he sees fit,” the PNM leader said. “We may be disappointed...I mean he has done certain things, but that’s not our call. “And I’ll tell you, I have no doubt that he has said he is still supporting the PNM and I have no doubt about that.”
