WI Test cricketers need consistency
Here we have lack of consistency showing up in our Test cricketers who were once more dismissed for less than 150 against New Zealand. The commentators are confused for the wicket was good for batting. What went wrong?
I would say openly that in the Caribbean we are not short for talent in every form of the game—T20, ODI and Test. Now I am dealing specifically with our Test players and the problem is that in both departments, batting and bowling, consistency is simply not happening.
We need our batsmen making triple numbers on a more regular basis. Look at the middle order in the first Test against New Zealand and see how many single digits. You never know what to expect and that is the honest truth.
If we were to go back in time, one of the things that made West Indies cricket great was the consistency of our players. It would be abnormal when certain players did not put runs on the board or bowlers did not give a good show of themselves.
The potential is there throughout the Caribbean but our boys need to want it badly.
