Chinapoo joins Massy Holdings

Ian Chinapoo, who will be joining Massy Holdings Limited as Group Chief Financial Office.

Ian Chinapoo, who is stepping down as Executive Director of the Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) at the end of May, is joining Massy Holdings Limited as Group Chief Financial Office.

A notice published in the T&T Stock Exchange yesterday said Chinapoo, who has also been appointed a director of Massy, will take up the new position on June 1.

In February, the UTC board of Directors announced that Chinapoo was leaving having served his term and thanked him for his contribution to the company’s growth and development during his tenure.

Chinapoo, who had been at the helm of the UTC since 2013, has more than two decades of experience in banking and finance. He served as Managing Director of Investment Banking & Trinidad Operating Company at FirstCaribbean International Bank Ltd until May 31, 2013.

Prior to that, he was its Managing Director of Corporate Lending.

Chinapoo, who also served as an Executive Director-Capital Markets and Managing Director of Capital Markets and Executive Director of Capital Markets at FirstCaribbean, joined the bank in 2004 as Director of Origination for the Southern Caribbean.

In 2005, he went on to head the regional Capital Markets business.

He has significant experience in investment banking.

He was recruited from Citigroup, where he held the post of Business Head of Citigroup’s Global Corporate and Investment Bank in The Bahamas.

His previous roles include Vice President and Senior Transactor in Capital Markets for the Caribbean and Central Americas region at Citibank International in Miami and Vice President with responsibility for Structured Finance and Product Development while at Citibank Trinidad.

Chinapoo has a B Sc in Accounting (First Class Honours) from the University of the West Indies and tutored and lectured in the MBA, Advanced Diploma and CIMA programmes at UWI’s Institute of Business in Trinidad from 1996 to 2000.

In his new position at Massy, he is taking over from Paula Rajkumarsingh who served as Group Chief Financial Officer for more than ten years.

She is taking up the new position of Senior Vice President, Shared Services from June 1.
